The Flaming Star

IC 405 known as the Flaming Star Nebula. This portion of the larger complex shows the rippling gas and dust that gives the nebula is popular name. This region is rich in glowing hydrogen gas, as shown in this 6nm Hydrogen Alpha image. This nebula is approximately 1500 light years away.
