03/04/2017

Cataloged as IC443, the Jellyfish nebula is a supernova remnant in the constellation Gemini. The shape is created by glowing hydrogen gas blown out by the explosion some many thousands of years ago more than 5,000 light years from earth.

This image was taken at the 2017 Winter Star Party in the Florida Keys (fitting for the name) and took first place in the Deep Sky astrophotography contest.
